YCA participates in an international training program in Japan

Yemen Customs Authority, along with the customs of fourteen other countries, participated in a specialized customs program organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) from October 30 to November 20, represented by Mr. Fuad Al-Jabri, Deputy General Manager of Al-Wadeeah Customs port, and Mr. Abobakr Al-Sharihi, manager of International Relations.
The program aimed to exchange information and experiences among the participants, as well as learn about the mechanisms and procedures of the Japanese Customs, including examination and verification systems, customs laboratories, and the inspection dog unit, in addition to the techniques used to facilitate the movement of trade and travelers, protect borders and collect revenues.
The program included an integrated training package that included a theoretical aspect through lectures and a practical aspect through field visits to a number of Japanese customs offices, ports and airports in the cities of Kobe, Osaka and Nagasaki. The program also included introductory activities on the culture and history of Japan through visits to a number of landmarks and museums.
YCA delegation gave presentations on Yemen Customs Authority and its joint efforts with the Ministry of Finance to raise the efficiency of customs work, in addition to reviewing the most prominent needs and challenges required to develop performance and facilitate international trade. Participants from other countries made similar presentations about their customs.
In his speech on behalf of the participants during the closing ceremony of the program, Al-Jaberi expressed the thanks of the customs of the participating countries to Japan Customs and JICA for the good organization and hospitality, stressing the importance of continuing such quality programs that contribute to building the capacities of customs in developing countries.
