During 2025, Sarafeet Customs in Al Mahrah Governorate witnessed increased attention from the Customs Authority, which culminated in the implementation of a package of developmental measures and institutional updates that contributed to a qualitative leap in the level of performance and improved the efficiency of work at the port.

Organizational and technical development

During the year 2025, a tangible transformation in the work environment at Sarafeet Customs has emerged, represented by the start of the automation of customs procedures and the digitization of operations, which contributes to reducing human intervention and speeding up the completion of transactions.

The customs port was also provided with a 150-kilowatt generator, in addition to modernizing the technical system by providing eight modern computers, in addition to renovating the structural buildings of the port and enhancing its operational capabilities.

Investing in people

Within the framework of paying attention to the human element, the Customs Authority approved financial entitlements for 16 employees, in addition to implementing local and international training programs aimed at raising the efficiency of cadres and enhancing their professional readiness to keep pace with modern customs developments, which reflected positively on the level of performance and job commitment.

Strengthening customs security and combating smuggling

Sarafeet Customs has made significant progress in the security aspect over the past year by enhancing inspection and anti-smuggling capabilities, with the introduction of a portable X-ray machine for examination, which contributed to increasing the accuracy of procedures and accelerating the pace of work.

In this context, the Customs port was commended by the World Customs Organization (WCO) for its active participation in the international operation Gateway, which resulted in thwarting the smuggling of components for explosive devices and dual-use items.

In a press statement, Mr. Ahmed Bakrit, General Manager of Sarafeet Customs port, said that the Customs Authority, represented by its chairman Mr. Abdulhakim Al-kubati, has paid great attention to Sarafeet Customs and its employees, both at the level of infrastructure development and human capacity building.

He pointed out that the unified customs system has greatly contributed to facilitating transactions, and that technical and technical support has had an effective role in enhancing customs security and combating smuggling, stressing that what was achieved during 2025 represents the harvest of integrated development efforts that raised the efficiency of the port and strengthened its position at both levels
