Yemen Customs Authority (YCA), represented by YCA DEPUTY Dr. Mohamed Abdo Dahni and manager of Legal Affairs Mr.Badr Zain Moqbel, participated in a specialized training workshop held in the Republic of Seychelles with the support of the Regional and International Maritime Security Program and the Red Sea Region in cooperation with the Prosecutors’ Introductory Forum.
The four-day workshop targeted 25 high-level participants from three other countries: Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia: Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia, with Yemen’s customs, coast guard and public prosecution participating.
The workshop aimed to introduce international maritime law and its jurisdiction, the powers of states in their territorial waters, and combating maritime crimes, especially piracy, human trafficking, and drug smuggling.
The training was provided by a group of specialists and experts in maritime laws and legislation.
The workshop comes as part of joint regional efforts to enhance maritime security and raise the efficiency and capabilities of law enforcement agencies in participating countries, with the aim of improving their methods of dealing with cross-border maritime issues and threats.
At the end of the event, certificates were distributed to the participants in the presence of representatives from UNODC and the European Union
