In implementation of the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mr. Salem Saleh Bin Breik and the head of the Customs Authority Mr. Abdulhakim Al-Qubati in combating smuggling, the Customs Authority implemented a training course in portable X-ray examination for employees of Sarafit Customs, which was held for five days and concluded today and was presented by brothers Amjad Bajzaf and Mohammed Al-Naqib from the General Department of Radiology and Automated Examination at the Authority.

The course targeted 15 employees from Sarafit Customs and aimed to effectively apply the portable X-ray device, which was obtained from the UNODC Global Maritime Security Program (GMSP).

The practical training included introducing employees to the importance of using the portable radiation device and its capabilities, and the employees applied it to vehicles and goods likely to hide contraband in them.

The inspection was applied to different types of furniture, household items, tires and more.

The Director General of Sarafit Customs, Mr. Ahmed Bakrit, thanked the Prime Minister and the Head of the Department for the continuous support in infrastructure, rehabilitation and local and international training received by the customs staff during the past years, the results of which were reflected in many seizures of strategic, prohibited and restricted goods and narcotic medicines seized by the customs.

He also emphasized that training and qualification helped the Customs to carry out its tasks in maintaining national, regional and international security and public health.
